The Story Behind Meg's Scottish Kitchen

Hi I’m Meg,

I’m a classically trained chef with over 30 years of experience in the food world. My journey began at the world-renowned Ballymaloe Cookery School in Ireland, where I first fell in love with seasonal, sustainable cooking rooted in local produce and traditional techniques.

Since then, I’ve cooked my way through many kitchens from running a gastro pub on the edge of the Cotswolds, developing recipes for cookbooks and television, teaching cookery classes, and working as a private chef for titled families and UHNW individuals across the UK and beyond.

I have been lucky to have lived the past three years in the beautiful Scottish countryside with my husband Simon who is an essential part Meg's Scottish Kitchen. We share our home with our two dogs Bella and Bracken who love tasting anything that comes their way.

I’ve always believed that food is about more than just feeding people. It’s about connection, creativity, and comfort. Through Meg’s Scottish Kitchen, I now bring together everything I love  sharing seasonal recipes, teaching practical cookery skills, and crafting small-batch spice blends and handmade treats inspired by the Scottish seasons.

You’ll find me popping up at food festivals, hosting classes and demos, filling freezers with nourishing food, and delivering flavourful meals to holiday cottages across the Borders. I’m also the author of two cookbooks: My Spring Kitchen and My Kitchen Feasts — a celebration of the food that brings people together, season after season.

Whether you’re here to find a new recipe, book a class, or simply enjoy the beauty of real, honest food ,you’re so welcome.
